Rent a City Bike in Monheim am Rhein –
flexible, sustainable, and hassle-free
Monheim am Rhein is now even easier to explore at your own pace – thanks to our City Bikes, which are now also available to visitors.
Whether you're cycling along the Rhine promenade, through the old town, or out into the surrounding countryside, these bikes give you full flexibility and independence. Set your own pace, make spontaneous stops, and comfortably reach all the big and small highlights Monheim am Rhein has to offer. Hop on, start pedaling, and experience the town and its surroundings from a whole new perspective.
Around 250 bikes are available at 26 stations across the city, including city bikes, e-bikes, electric cargo bikes, and bikes for young riders.
How can I rent a bike?
To rent a city bike, you first need to download the Monheim Pass app (from the Google Play Store or App Store), create an account, and add a payment method. Each person can rent one bike. Bikes can be picked up at any station. After your ride, you can return the bike either to the same station or a different one. The maximum rental period is 24 hours.
Cost overview
- City bikes, e-bikes, and bikes for young people: €1 per 30 minutes or part thereof
- Electric cargo bikes: €2 per 30 minutes or part thereof
- Parking time counts as part of the rental period. If the 24-hour limit is exceeded or the bikes are used improperly, additional service fees will apply.
How to rent and return a City Bike
Rental
- Open the Monheim Pass app and tap the “City Bikes” tile.
- Use the “Find a bike” option to select the nearest station. You’ll see how many bikes are available there and what types.
- Tap “Rent a bike here.”
- Choose the bike you want and tap “Next.”
- The app will show which bikes are available and the dock number where to find them. Select your bike and tap “Next.”
- Choose your preferred payment method and tap “Rent.”
- The lock will open automatically, and you can take the bike out of the dock.
- For e-bikes and electric cargo bikes, you can switch on the motor assistance at the handlebar and adjust the support level manually.
Return
- Place the bike back into a free dock.
- Push the frame lock on the front wheel downwards to secure the bike. This ends the rental, and the app will confirm the return.

If you have questions, notice a defect, or want to report vandalism, you can do so quickly via the help portal of Bahnen der Stadt Monheim GmbH or through the “Customer Service” button in the Monheim Pass app.
In urgent cases, you can reach the hotline on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at +49 2173 9574-10. In case of accidents or theft, please always contact the police first.
