In Monheim am Rhein, there’s not only a lot to discover, but always something to celebrate!

Throughout the year, the city invites you to enjoy a wide variety of festivals and events: Be it one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the region, the crazy hustle and bustle of the “fifth season” that is Carnival, the colorful Spring Festival, the buzzing City Festival in the summer or the St. Martin’s Market in the fall – you’ll be amazed at what is put on here!

Join us in celebrating what is called the “fifth season” in the Rhineland area: Carnival! In Monheim am Rhein, the foolish activities are a real experience – on the street, in the pubs and in the festival hall. Our city is a real hotspot of Rhineland cheerfulness, situated right between Düsseldorf and Cologne.

Monheim am Rhein will put you in the mood for spring: Sunday, April 23, 2023 , will see the new season impressively ushered in.

The Monheim Triennale is an international music festival in which pioneering artistic positions across different styles of contemporary music can be heard and can interact with each other.
The first Monheim Triennale took place in the summer of 2022 and will now be held every three years. In the years between the main festivals, music fans can enjoy the Triennale spin-offs “The Prequel” and “The Sound”.

Monheim’s City Festival draws visitors from the entire region. This year, the 12th Monheim City Festival will be celebrated from June 16 to 18, 2023 under the motto “Gans wundervoll”, which loosely translates as “splendidly goose-y”.

On September 10, 2023, the Day of the Open Monument, numerous doors and gates to exciting places will be thrown open to visitors in Monheim am Rhein. Around the old part of town, many sights and historic monuments will be open for viewing – some with a special program of activities.

Over three days in September every year, there’s a lot to experience in the heart of the Berlin district, around Brandenburger Allee. This year, from September 15 to 17, 2023, rides, snack stands and a colorful program of on-stage events will once again draw visitors to Monheim.

Every shopaholic’s heart beats a little faster at the annual St. Martin’s Market – because the autumnal market offers something for every taste, and not just culinary delights.

Let yourself be enchanted! From December 1, 2023, to January 7, 2024, free ice-skating fun with a gourmet Alpine hut and atmospheric decorations invite you to really get into the Christmas spirit. This year, the traditional Christmas market will take place on the second and third weekends of December.

Sojus 7 is considered to be a hotspot of the independent cultural scene in Monheim am Rhein, offering an ambitious cultural program that has supraregional appeal. Monheimer Kulturwerke

Every year, the Monheimer Kulturwerke (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Monheim am Rhein) organizes more than 115 cultural events in the fields of theater, music, comedy and cabaret, readings, cinema performances and exhibitions. They invite visitors to attend concerts and festivals and organize surprising events at Monheim’s festivals.
