Christmas season in Monheim

When the holiday season is coming, the festive spirit is palpable in Monheim am Rhein. You know it’s not long until Christmas when, starting on Friday, November 29, the traditional Sternenzauber (Starry Magic) event turns the city center into a starlit scene. The excitement of waiting for it is one of the best parts of Christmas, and that’s why we celebrate the Advent season with all our senses here in Monheim am Rhein. The Monheim Mitte shopping district is lovingly decorated, and the local businesses come up with special ideas and tempting offers, making it fun to find that special gift, large or small, for a loved one.

Christmas market in the historic town center

One of the most magical Christmas markets in the entire region will attract visitors to Monheim am Rhein from December 12 to 15 and December 19 to 22, 2024. A great way to shorten the wait for Christmas on the second and third weekend of Advent.

From November 29 to January 5, a free ice rink, games of curling, twinkling Christmas stars and huts with fragrant gourmet delights ensure that visitors enjoy festive and fun moments in downtown Monheim.

Come to the cozy, warm winter chalet. Enjoy winter delicacies and the view of the cheerful hustle and bustle on the ice rink.

From December 7 to 10 and from December 14 to 17, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the region will take place in the historic part of town. Discover the many small stalls, the festive lighting, the smell of punch and creative gift ideas at the atmospherically decorated Alter Markt square.

Christmas Stars for making children’s eyes light up

In Monheim am Rhein, no child should go without a gift at Christmas. This is where Monheim’s Christmas Stars come in – a joint campaign of the municipal Children and Youth Department in cooperation with aid organizations and numerous institutions that strive to ensure the well-being of the youngest residents of the “Children’s Capital.”

A donation of just 10 to 15 euros is enough to gift a child in need with a book or game. Donors receive a colorful star as a thank-you gift and much-appreciated tree ornament along with a free Christmas bauble with a motif of Monheim on it.

The stars will be available from early December at the Bürgerbüro (the Municipal Services Office), at the Tourist Information Office in Monheim Mitte, at the reception at Haus der Chancen (House of Opportunities) and at the Moki cafés in Monheim and Baumberg.
