In and on the water

The name of Monheim am Rhein already hints at it: located along kilometers 707 to 717 on the Rhine River, our city has a lot to offer both in and on the water. Lush natural spaces and exciting activities await visitors to the Rheinbogen Landscape Park and the Urdenbacher Kämpe nature reserve. Cycling and hiking trails lead along the shore and, thanks to a car-free ferry, even to the other side of the Rhine. Two other large ferries in Hitdorf and the Urdenbacher Kämpe make great circular trips possible – which can even include a little detour to Zons.

A landing stage for excursion boats and hotel ships, with a freely accessible viewing platform that brings visitors very close to the glittering surface of the water, takes them directly onto the water. In addition, a sauna and bathing world in Monheim’s all-weather pool complex, Mona Mare (currently undergoing renovations), and a water-skiing facility in the neighboring town of Langenfeld invite visitors to take a dip in the refreshing water in and around Monheim. Swimming in the Rhine, on the other hand, is expressly not recommended.

Day trip steamers, river cruises and event ships – all are welcome at Monheim’s jetty. Ahoy, ye sea dogs and mermaids!

Travel by ferry to and from Monheim am Rhein: The Piwipper Böötchen passenger ferry lets you cross the Rhine while keeping your feet dry. The Urdenbach-Zons and Hitdorf-Langel ferries even make round trips along both sides of the river possible.

Enjoy the feeling of being on a mini-vacation in the Mona Mare swimming complex and newly designed sauna area of the well-maintained all-weather pool of Monheim am Rhein.

With the historic eel fishing boat called "Fiat Voluntas", the city has landed a "real contemporary witness" for you, one which inspires its guests as an interactive museum.

Water, water, everywhere! Spread across an area of 320 square meters, water cannons, water tunnels and floor jets mean a whole load of fun for the entire family on warm days. A Monheim highlight!

This is where you can play with works of art! At the Social Playground Monheim, works of art become climbing objects, slides and swings. Who can manage to get through the water pavilion without getting wet?

A circular route that takes you across the water and back again: The Leinpfad (towpath) is a cycle and walking path along the Rhine Promenade in the direction of Baumberg and the Urdenbacher Kämpe Nature Reserve. In Urdenbach, you can take the ferry to get to the other side of the Rhine and walk to Zons, a medieval customs fortress.
