Day of the Open Monument 2023

On Monheim am Rhein’s Day of the Open Monument, numerous doors and gates leading to exciting sights and historical monuments – some with a very special program of activities – will be thrown open for visitors. Haus Bürgel, which belongs to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is always part of it all.

Due to their age, historic buildings have usually seen many phases of reconstruction, refurbishment and renovation. As original structures, they provide an insight into the history of their inhabitants, their uses and various construction phases. Many an architectural sin of the past can also be read on their walls. All this and the resulting hints of the past can be traced during the “Day of the Open Monument” – in keeping with the motto chosen this year by the German Foundation for Monument Protection: “CultureTrail. A Case for Monument Protection.”

Date: Sunday, September 10, 2023

Program: Information on all the locations, guided tours and activities is contained in a program flyer, which is always available a few weeks before the Day of the Open Monument in the City Hall, other public buildings and the Tourist Information Office in Monheim Mitte.
