Three days of celebration in Monheim am Rhein

Monheim’s City Festival has evolved into a major event that draws people from the entire region. Every year, Monheim's city center is transformed for three days into a colorful and imaginative themed world.

12. Monheimer Stadtfest – „Gans wundervoll“
This time the motto of the celebration will be "Gans wundervoll” (loosely translates to “splendidly goose-y”, the goose being one of Monheim’s emblems) from June 16 to 18, 2023. Children and adults can expect a wide-ranging program of events with numerous free attractions and activities including experiments, illusions and whimsical art installations: from the wonders of technology to the Wonders of the World and magical wonders, it’s all here. A fantastic experience in an area covering 30,000 square meters extending from Krischerstrasse to Ernst-Reuter-Platz and into the old part of town.

Open-air concerts
Top-class music acts will once again perform on the open-air stage on Gartzenweg until late into the evening. Who will be performing is always revealed a few weeks before the festival begins at www.monheim.de/stadtfest.

Gänseliesellauf – the Goose Girl Run: The sporting competition            
The sporting highlight of the City Festival is the annual Goose Girl Run on Friday evening. Competitors can run distances of various lengths: 900 meters or two kilometers for those whose legs are still on the short side, or the five or ten kilometer runs for participants with more stamina. Alternatively, simply watch and cheer on the runners along the route, part of which also runs through the middle of the City Festival area.

Flea market on Saturday
The lively Goose Girl Market traditionally takes place on the Saturday of the City Festival. Enjoy the very special flea market atmosphere in the old town of Monheim and on Alte Schulstrase. You’re sure find to some little treasure or two here.
