Knipprath Woods

Where today Knipprath Woods attracts nature lovers, a few hundred years ago the Rhine still flowed there. You can still see the old riverbed here and there when you go on a short or long walk.

If you walk quietly and pay attention, you can see hares, rabbits and even deer. Knipprath Woods is also popular with joggers, horseback riders and cyclists, who want to get fit and active in the fresh air. The length of the circular trail in Knipprath Woods (trail number A4) is 11 kilometers.

Getting fit and riding under treetops

Since the spring of 2022, there has been a near-natural gym area on Knipprather Strasse at the western edge of the woods, which can be used free of charge all year round. In the fall, a second area was added at the "An der Tongrube" parking lot. On these areas, people of all ages and different levels of fitness will find balancing beams, hanging bars, parallel bars and other calisthenics equipment.

The horse-riding trail in Knipprath Woods, which has been popular for many years, was also tackled in the fall of 2022. In some areas, the trail was widened, muddy spots repaired, and signage added at key locations.
