The Rhine dike and the Rhine bend

It protects and benefits the local residents: The Rhine dike protects the urban area of Monheim from flooding. In front of it, behind it and on top of it, there is a recreational area for everyone. In addition to the Neanderlandsteig Trail, this also includes a circular hiking trail that’s about 5 km long (trail number A2). On its network of paths near the shore, you can hike, cycle or stroll between old dikes, orchard meadows, fields, hedges, pollarded willows and paddocks.
