Monheim 4.0 – a smart city

The city is taking advantage of ongoing digital innovations to steadily improve the quality of life for its citizens and the attractiveness of its location for guests and companies through the ground-breaking use of modern technologies. This is why Monheim am Rhein is also a pioneer in the field of “smart cities” and is constantly investing in expanding its digital infrastructure. This includes services such as a comprehensive fiber-optic network, free WiFi throughout the city, smart parking and a digital parking guidance system. Likewise in operation is Smart Lighting, a street lighting system that automatically reacts to its surroundings and user needs. Another highlight is the Monheim Pass.

The digital columns provide a wealth of helpful information, just like an oversized smartphone. Among other things, you can use the displays to open an interactive map that shows you the shortest route to restaurants, hotels, stores, playgrounds and tourist highlights.
