Sojus 7

Sojus 7 – the socio-cultural heart of the city
With a history spanning more than 35 years, Sojus 7 is housed on the site of a former sauerkraut factory and serves as an open space for music, art, culture, creativity, and connection. Its program is as varied and colorful as the city itself: concerts, parties, art exhibitions, readings, film screenings, dining options, media education projects, discussion evenings, or simply a relaxed night at the pub to end the day.
Beyond its events, Sojus 7 offers plenty of space for creativity in its studios, recording facilities, open workshop, and community garden – places to make, experiment, tinker, and create. The rich program is shaped by numerous collaborations within the city, but above all by dedicated volunteer cultural contributors who bring their ideas and passion to life here.

Dancing indoors and outside!
Besides the program of events in the rooms of Sojus 7 on Kapellenstraße, the team organizes two large open-air events every year:
The “Draussen Tanzen” (Dancing Outdoors) festival takes place in the immediate vicinity of the old part of town. On the meadow next to the open-air stage on Kapellenstraße, over 40 volunteers organize a two-day music festival with bands from music genres like indie, electro, world music and rock music. It’s a free of charge outdoor festival.
The Sojus-7 boat tour is a punk rock festival on the Rhine. While the boat sails up and down the Rhine, guests can enjoy DJs on deck or dance in front of the stage to the music of international bands.

Meeting points
Sojus 7 is considered a hotspot for the independent scene in Monheim am Rhein. Besides the large event hall, the barn with a fireplace, and the café, it also houses a commercial kitchen, studios, rehearsal rooms, a workshop, a recording studio, the Sojus garden, a media room, and various other spaces that can be used for a wide range of purposes.
In addition to the main location at Kapellenstraße 36–40, there is also the café “Zum goldenen Hans” at Ernst-Reuter-Platz 14. This café is regularly used by numerous groups, such as the Sprachbar and the Ukrainian association Leléka, for their weekly meetings.
The digital venue is Radio Rakete, Sojus 7’s internet radio station, featuring music, radio plays, discussion rounds, and live broadcasts of Sojus 7 events.
