Monchronik — the decentralized city museum

An interactive walk with seven sites and an app

The history of Monheim can be felt, seen and experienced in many places across the city. The Monchronik, the decentralized city museum, links and presents our historical places and historical sites.

The Monchronik includes the Eel Fishing Museum, St. Mary’s Chapel, the Carnival Museum, Marienburg Park, former Roman Fort Haus Bürgel, Hilla’s Reading Shed, and the Rogue’s Tower. The sites can be visited as part of an organized tour or by oneself.

Opening hours and admission fee

Admission to all Monchronik sites is free of charge. The Eel Fishing Museum, the Carnival Museum and Hilla’s Reading Shed at the Ulla Hahn House open their doors to all visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Former Roman Fort Haus Bürgel opens on weekends and bank holidays from 10 1.m. to 6 p.m.

Follow the blue goose footprints!

Discover the city in a very special way: The blue goose footprints, which you can find at various places throughout the city, show you the way to various sights around Monheim. At the individual sites, the Gänseliesel or Goose Girl, an emblem of Monheim, provides you with further information.

With the augmented reality app on an coordinated tour of discovery

Besides the blue goose feet, you can also go on a tour of discovery with your smartphone and the free Monchronik app – with the goose as your personal city guide.
