When the holiday season is coming, the festive spirit is palpable in Monheim am Rhein. You know it’s not long until Christmas when, starting on Friday, November 28, the traditional Sternenzauber (Starry Magic) event turns the city center into a starlit scene. The excitement of waiting for it is one of the best parts of Christmas, and that’s why we celebrate the Advent season with all our senses here in Monheim am Rhein. The Monheim Mitte shopping district is lovingly decorated, and the local businesses come up with special ideas and tempting offers, making it fun to find that special gift, large or small, for a loved one.

Starry magic in Monheim am Rhein 2025

Starry Magic is Monheim am Rhein’s annual winter event that enriches the Advent season with a variety of activities. At its center is a 425-square-meter ice rink on Eierplatz, which can be used free of charge from November 28, 2025, to January 11, 2026. In addition to ice skating, Starry Magic also offers curling for groups. A two-story winter chalet with seasonal food and drinks invites visitors to linger and enjoy the cozy atmosphere.

Starry Magic Christmas Market in Monheim’s Old Town

From December 12 to 14 and December 19 to 21, 2025, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the entire region invites visitors to come to Monheim. On the third and fourth Advent weekends, you can enjoy a magical time in Monheim's Old Town.

All the highlights of Monheim's Starry Magic 2025

From November 28, 2025 to January 11, 2026, a free ice rink, games of curling, twinkling Christmas stars and huts with fragrant gourmet delights ensure that visitors enjoy festive and fun moments in downtown Monheim.

Curling on the Eierplatz in Monheim am Rhein offers winter fun for everyone. Up to three lanes are available daily from 6 p.m. Advance reservations are required.

From December 12 to 14 and from December 19 to 21, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the region will take place in the historic part of town. Discover the many small stalls, the festive lighting, the smell of punch and creative gift ideas at the atmospherically decorated Alter Markt square.

Come to the cozy, warm winter chalet. Enjoy winter delicacies and the view of the cheerful hustle and bustle on the ice rink.

Enjoy delicacies from the grill in a cozy lounge atmosphere, with festive lighting and live music. From December 11 to 14 in front of the townhall in Monheim am Rhein.

The Ice & Beats Party will take place on December 3, 10 and 17, 2025 in the Winter Chalet. The highlight for all after-work fans.

The Sternenzauber is accompanied by a colorful program of events for visitors to participate in and marvel at. Enjoy wintry treats and entertaining events with a special Christmas ambience.

Most parking spaces in Monheim Mitte are free for up to three hours.

Christmas Stars for making children’s eyes light up

In Monheim am Rhein, no child should go without a gift at Christmas. This is where Monheim’s Christmas Stars come in: a joint initiative of the municipal Children and Youth Department in cooperation with aid organizations and numerous institutions that strive to ensure the well-being of the youngest residents of Monheim.

Together with you, we make sure every child gets a gift!

A donation of just 10 to 15 euros is enough to gift a child in need with a book or game. Donors receive a colorful star as a thank-you gift.

This year’s star sale begins on November 9, 2025, at the Martinsmarkt. Starting then, the stars will be available at the Citizens' Office, the Tourist Information Center, the Emotion Cinema, many shops in Monheim Mitte, the reception desk at the “Haus der Chancen”, and the Moki Cafés in Monheim and Baumberg.
